Besides, there's something about potatoes. Once they're cooked in a curry, they have this uncanny knack to absorb all the spices and flavours and impart a luxurious texture to them. So we thought we'd give you a little primer on how to prepare Murgh Aloo Curry. Murgh curry with aloo is a dish in which the chicken and potatoes take centre stage and is complemented with yoghurt and the choicest spices to make it a showstopping curry. The creamy thick gravy of this dish is the stuff non-vegetarian dreams are made of. This hearty curry is best served with steamed rice, jeera rice and rotis. Well if you want to prepare it at home, here’s a step-by-step murgh aloo curry recipe for you!


Ghee- 2 Tblspn

Chicken (Cut) - 500 Gms

Diced Potatoes- 300 Gms

Ginger Garlic Paste- 2 Tblspn

Salt to Taste

Chopped Onions- 2

Whisked Yogurt- 100 Gms

Coriander Powder- 1 Tblspn

Turmeric Powder- 1 Tspn

Red chili Powder- 1 Tspn

Coriander Leaves (Chopped)- Small Bunch

Water- 500Mtlr


  1. Heat the pan, add ghee.
  2. Add onions, cook until golden brown.
  3. Add chicken and potatoes.
  4. Add salt to taste, coriander powder, turmeric powder and saute.
  5. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook till oil is released.
  6. Add yogurt and cook till oil is released again.
  7. Add water and simmer till desired consistency.
  8. Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
